The word doula comes from ancient Greek, originally meaning “woman who serves.” Today, a doula is a trained companion who provides support physically and emotionally, provides information, helps teach advocacy and offers support for birth partners.
Doulas are not medical providers, but they work alongside midwives, doctors, and nurses to ensure families feel empowered, informed, and deeply supported throughout the birth process.
-
As a doula, I’m specially trained in various comfort measures like breathing techniques, positioning, pain management & mindset. I’m not only a doula for the mother, but I also specialize in supporting partners and I will provide guidance for your partner on how to best assist you.
-
Hiring a doula is an investment in your birth experience, offering continuous physical, emotional, and informational support during one of the most transformative moments of your life. Studies show that having a doula can lead to shorter labors, fewer interventions, and a more positive birth experience—all of which can contribute to a smoother postpartum recovery.
I understand that cost can be a concern, which is why many families choose to add doula support to their baby shower or gift registry. Instead of traditional gifts, loved ones can contribute to the invaluable gift of a supported birth.
Payment options are also available and I offer discounts for paying in full at time of hire.
-
As a doula, I am trained to respect your privacy and boundaries, allowing you to openly discuss your fears, anxieties, and preferences without feeling exposed. I will also tailor the support I offer, to your specific needs and comfort level, providing a more intimate and focused experience, while doing my best to manage the space where you choose to give birth. I’m well-versed in different comfort techniques and pain management strategies, which can help you navigate labor in a way that aligns with your privacy needs.
